Sometimes it can be easy to fall into the trap of constantly thinking about what is going wrong and just the negatives of our life. But I thought in reflection of this month if I could think of 5 positive things to take from April then I know that life is not that bad as it seems.
I will be honest I try to practice gratitude in the morning everyday because I personally feel like it just helps me start the day off well, but also brings me back to real life sometimes if I had a bad day the day before. Not only this but I think practicing gratitude is important to look at what we have and remind us that maybe life is not as bad as it seems.
Now I don’t know about you but a little goes a long way and I love reading things from other people about their achievements, positive things or just what has happened that they are happy with. This is why I wanted to share 5 positive things that have happened this month (for me or what I have seen that makes me happy), to inspire you or make you smile or even encourage you to think about your own positive things in your life. So let’s get into them…
My First AD
As a hobby blogger it is not ultimately my plan to ever go full time with blogging (which could change granted). I work full time during the week and sometimes a weekend day, but I enjoy my career and I have worked hard to progress as I have. I have completed both a Degree in Psychology and a Masters in Child and Adolescent Psychology, so I definitely think it is ok to be passionate about your own career as well as being passionate about blogging. Of course it is also ok to be a full time blogger and that be your career. I just think it is different for everyone and that is ok.
In saying that I signed up to Get Blogged which if you are not aware is great for bloggers (with a DA of 5 and higher) because there are opportunities listed and you can choose, submit a proposal and potentially work with brands. It is just a great way to do some work and build you working with brands up.
One day I just decided to submit a proposal and see what happens. I didn’t think nothing of it until I got an email and honestly I was so excited it was unreal. It was such a fun time writing a post for a brand and I am so proud of myself for that. You can read that post here.
Therefore, I think out of the 5 positive things this month for me personally that does come up top.
Also if you want to find out more about DA and what it is then Jenny has a great post.
Improved my Self-Care
I have spent the last year or so focusing on how I can truly implement the best self-care routine that I possibly can that will benefit my life.
This month especially I have felt a bit weird (I cannot explain it) and so I have been taking more time away from the screen after I finish work. Which I have to say has worked wonders. Instead I have been making time to focus my energy on doing other things. For example, crafting which I enjoy and I have recently embarked on a new crafting journey, but that is a story for another time.
I think if anything out of the positive things that have happened this month then this is great because, I have truly spent the time to focus on me and what is beneficial for my health and well-being. Which is so important and I think more and more people are realising too.
In addition, I have begun completing some of my runs as soon as I wake up during the week at 7 am and I have just been loving it. It has been such a great motivation boost and it just starts my day off well. If you have been reading my posts for a long time then you will know that fitness is a huge part of my life and it just makes me feel so good.
I Passed my 3 Month Probation with Work
Staying with the positive things in my personal life then I actually passed my probation at work this week! In case you are new I got a new job in January this year, which I couldn’t be more grateful for everyday. It has changed my life, I have learnt so much and I can see what a difference a good manager and team/company are on my own mental health and well-being.
If you don’t know typically a job has a probation period (kind of like a trial I guess) which is good for both the employee and the employer. During this time (which can vary) it just gives the employer a chance to see if the person they employed can do the job well, and if they are suitable for the company. Sometimes what you see in interviews can be completely different once the individual begins working. However, I also see it as a trial for the individual too for the company, in that you might realise it is not the company for you and so you can leave.
It can be scary though I will admit because you do know that you are being monitored more and they could just decide they don’t want you. But in my personal case it was one of the positive things of this month, and I couldn’t be happier.
Began Learning a new Craft
Something else that is part of my positive things from this month is learning a new craft. Naturally I am a creative person, always have been and I always look to doing different crafts and trying new things.
Last year I actually got back into knitting and I am still doing that too (when I can), but recently I wanted to try something a bit different. So far I am loving it and I am like a kid at Christmas when my new crafts arrive. Luckily for me I am quick at picking things up, so once I learn how to do something visually I can tend to replicate that. From there it is just then improvising and coming up with new craft ideas.
Learning a new craft can take time and you might gather by now that I like to be doing things, and I am not really a “chill” person. I do ensure that I take time to relax too, but I do like to be busy. Hence why I work full time, blog and craft. But this of course had to make it onto the positive things in my life this month because I am proud for trying something new.
England’s Ocean Project
Last on my list of 5 positive things is something that I read about (so this one is not personal in my life) and I think is such a great project for our environment.
Basically underwater there is what is known as “seagrass beds” and these are great as a refuge for fish and for them to spawn, and also is great for absorbing nutrients and cleaning surrounding waters. However, due to the mooring from boats and pollution they are being lost at an alarming rate- they are sensitive to damage.
However, this past week I read about this project called “The LIFE Recreation ReMEDIES project, led by Natural England. Their aim is to improve at-risk seagrass in 5 areas (these are marine protected areas in the England), and replant underwater meadows.
I think this is such a great project and what a wonderful thing to end on in my positive things from this month. Protecting our environment is so important, and projects like these go a long way in helping our wild life/ocean and hopefully can work so that this will expand to projects around the world.
There you have it 5 positive things that have happened this month both personal to me and even something positive for our environment.
Let me know in the comments what positive things have happened to you this month? Or positive things you have read this month?
Thanks for reading,
