Day in my life: Sun and BBQ

Today I am bringing you a different post, throwing it back to some of my old posts that I used to write that are similar (you can check out this one here and this one here).

I decided I wanted to have a bit more of a relaxing post with no set direction but just writing in the moment of my life. I understand life in lockdown probably is not the most exciting but I want to share my day with you all.

Today on Wednesday the 20th of May it is particularly hot in the UK, and honestly I even tried to sunbathe in it but I probably lasted about an hour!

First of all I woke up around 7 am because I am attempting to stick to some sort of routine so I don’t get a shock when I go back to work (I have spoke about the benefits of having a routine here). I always make myself a cup of tea, and this week I have been working my way through the Marvel films with my mum. Thus, today it was Guardians of the Galaxy (not my favourite but have to watch them if we go through them in order).

During this I completed my workout on Instagram at 8 am, which I have mentioned before and if you follow me on Instagram you probably see me rave about it all the time (apologies).

I am not going to lie but consistency is KEY and honestly I am just feeling my body get stronger and stronger. I mean I did 15 bloody burpee’s in 1 minute. Who am I? I hated burpee’s before beginning these workout’s and now week 5 and I am so proud of myself. They don’t get easier but I get better at doing them.

After I had finished my workout and the film I went and showered off the sweaty mess that I was and had some fruit for my breakfast.

10 am

Now I had sorted myself out a bit it was time for some morning chores. Today I needed to finish off some of the garden mess that was created the day before with my mum. It really was just making a pile so that we can get rid of it when the time is right.

Not gonna lie but gardening is hard work and in this heat horrific. However, I do love planting flowers and walking around looking after it so I guess it ain’t all that bad.

12 pm

By the time I had finished I decided I wanted some lunch, on today’s menu was just cheese baguette (although in hindsight probably not the best when I was having a BBQ later that day).

In this time we put on Guardians of the Galaxy second film whilst I sat on my laptop and completed some work.

I was sent some training to complete by my work, who are preparing for opening up next week. I am 100% not feeling ready, am a little bit nervous and I don’t think we should be opening up so soon. However, there is not much I can do about it.

I have begun applying for new jobs as I mentioned in this post, I want a fresh start. So if anyone has any jobs they can recommend please do haha.

1:30 pm

The sun was beaming and I thought I want to make the most of it before it rains again. Therefore with my towel I went and laid down on the grass (of course I had applied sun cream). As I said though it was unbelievably hot and I lasted just over an hour before retreating back inside for shade.

3 pm

I ventured back to the garden with my laptop and sat at the table under the umbrella to do some writing. I was feeling inspired so wanted to make the most of that before it disappeared.

4 pm

It was BBQ time, my dad had already prepped the BBQ and the food was cooking and honestly I just LOVE the smell of a BBQ (well not if it is really smokey).

I choose burgers, and veggie kebabs with salad as my BBQ meal for today and it was lovely. Honestly cannot beat these little moments, as much as lockdown is crazy and full of different emotions. It is times like these that I just sit back and enjoy the most.

Anyway I didn’t get up to much else but chilling so I shall leave it there!

Let me know your plans for the day? Or share with me your “day in the life” posts if you have wrote any?

Thanks for reading,

Gemma Jayne x

  2. Loved reading this hun & yes to the smell of bbq, so yummy. Can’t believe you’re going back to work so soon, as much as it’ll be nice to get some sense of normality back, it’s almost a throw off getting back into work. Like, you get used to being at home just to… not be. You know what I mean right? Good luck and good luck with the job search. ❀

  3. Thanks for sharing with us the typical day in the life of Gemma Gemma! Felt I’d say that as it had a great ring to it. Big Marvel fan and Guardians of the Galaxy is the perfect fill to include in your day, hope you enjoyed the film (I’m guessing you’ve watched Guardians vol2 or Age of Ultron today or if we’re doing it chronologically). Congrats on smashing it with the Burpees too πŸ’ͺ🏾

  4. Such a lovely post! 😊 You actually motivate me to stick more to a workout routine! So you wake up at 7 then by 8 you’ve finished your workout? Do you eat breakfast before or after it? πŸ˜‚
I’ve personally been working a lot in the past weeks and I’m looking forward to having a more relaxed routine! What kind of job are you looking for? πŸ˜„

    1. I definitely recommend it it helps me so much! Plus consistency is key 😊 I wake up at 7 have my cup of tea/ wake myself up and then I do my workout at 8am-8:30am and then I normally eat breakfast at 9am 😊 that’s just at the moment when I’m back at work it will be different!
I want to ideally work in any data analyst/assistant type roles, or research assistant 😊 thanks for the comment! Xx

  5. I feel you about waking up at 7am for work! It is good that you still have a schedule so you don’t need to train yourself to wake up super early. Totally agree with you about consistency. It is great that you’re doing burpees! The sandwich looks delicious. Love that you had a BBQ going on too. Thanks for sharing your day!
