5 things that made me happy last week

It is Monday and I thought what is a better way than to start the week off in a positive note and talk about things that make me happy.

Sometimes it is nice to just reflect and focus on all the good in our lives and not the bad. Especially during this time I think it is even more important to focus on the good that is happening, however big or small.

  1. I baked cookies

I am trying to get more inspiration with my baking or cooking. Therefore, I just spontaneously baked some cookies, and they turned out amazingly if I must say so myself haha (you might have saw on my Instagram)! Therefore, of course that has to make it onto my list of things that made me happy. However, I did forget to save the pictures to add here so apologies.

I do have plans for other baking I want to do or experiment with including brownies or Easter themed desserts.

2. I ran 6 miles

I mean I do run as much as I can but recently I have been lacking motivation, however on Saturday I just felt some inspiration. Therefore, I decided to go for a long run and I managed to do 6 miles and honestly I am so proud of myself because I have not run that long since my half-marathon.

I felt so good within my body and during my run too. However, I have also been watching videos on youtube of people running ultra marathons/doing iron man marathons which have been so inspiring! This is definitely something I would love to be able to work myself towards someday as horrible and long as it sounds.

3. I got sent gifts

There have been posts going around on twitter where people put their wishlist’s on a thread and people can have a look through and send people gifts etc. It is just such a lovely thing to come about during this weird time, and I have sent people gifts because I just wanted to make someone’s day.

However, I was not actually expecting people to send me anything and so far I have been sent three gifts! The lovely gal Gillian Finn sent me a lovely message and book, and honestly I had tears in my eyes. The other gifts were from some ladies on twitter, and I just can’t thank everyone enough. Honestly it means the actual world to me.

4. Walks with Ryan

As much as it is hard right now I am really appreciating just going for a walk with Ryan at the moment. We get to have conversations about whatever, and also explore what is local to us. I think it has made us more appreciative of where we live and just is nice to have some quality time together.

Plus with being indoors the majority of our day’s now it is nice to just get some fresh air and keep my body moving.

5. Cleaning

I know I probably sound weird right now, but I actually do enjoy cleaning. There is nothing better than knowing a space is clean and it looks tidy. Therefore, I decided to dedicate each day last week to a different part of the house. For example, Monday I cleaned the kitchen and Tuesday I cleaned the bathroom etc. I found this really helped keep me motivated and I felt so great afterwards.

Therefore, I am deciding to keep this up and continue this routine to keep me motivated. But I am happy that I cleaned the house last week, and that is something to be proud of.

Also I want to say I don’t just focus on cleaning the whole day, I tend to break it up. For example, from 9-11 am I might clean the kitchen and then 11-12 pm I will concentrate on a course I am doing at the moment and then have a lunch break etc. I have just found this just helps me to keep my routine whilst I am not in work.

  3. Yes, we have to stay positive especially during these trying times! Ugh, I miss baking. How unfortunate that our oven broke down before the quarantine??? And oh, I loved the idea of sending gifts because I’m the kind of girl who loves making other people happy too. Lol.
