Hello loves, I wanted to begin the year with this post (after my goals for the year post), to kickstart the year in the best way possible!
Also I got some inspiration from the lovely Brogan Tate, with her list as we both have similar goals for our self-care so check that out!
Last year I began to get better at integrating more self-care into my routine. Towards the end of the year I began to put it into my diary/on my daily lists. Self-care is just as important as completing our weekly/daily tasks, so it makes sense that they go onto our lists too! Therefore, here are some healthy habits I am kickstarting 2020 with and will hopefully continue…
This year I want to love myself a lot more, and give myself more credit for the things I do. I want to praise myself for little and big things that I achieve and tell myself regularly that I am proud. This is something I think we all should do more, and it’s beneficial for our mental health. Also the more you tell yourself you are amazing the more you will start to believe it.
I began to meditate last year and started off really well. However, towards the end of the year as life got busier I sort of pushed it aside. NOT ANYMORE! I decided that on the 1st I will be meditating for at least 10 minutes a day. I have done this for the last 5 days so far and I feel great! I definitely hope to keep this up, and I recommend it to others too! I am enjoying just doing my own thing with meditating and seeing how it goes.
As I mentioned towards the end of last year I began to schedule self-care into my diary and onto my lists. I am continuing this into 2020 because I find it helps me stick to it. Sometimes we forget that we deserve and need that self-care! I also am a sucker for ticking things off my lists so that’s also a bonus!
More sustainable Less buying
As I have begun more research into sustainability and the environment I have begun buying less. Well less impulse. I have thought about the products I have been buying and how to buy alternatives that suit the needs of the environment. Therefore, less buying is definitely something that will go into my self-care routine. Every little helps.
Another priority of mine is to experience and use the outdoors a lot more! If I am working then going for a walk before work/after/lunch time. If I have a day off then making sure I go outside for at least 1-2 hours or more during that day! I want to make the most of nature and our environment. Also this is beneficial for our mental health too!
Limiting Screen Time
I am going to be honest I am not actually that bad with my phone. It can be easy to fall into a trap with having to go on social media etc but I am much more a “in the moment” person. This is probably why some will argue I am rubbish at replying to messages, but I can’t help it. I want to make the most of people, and I can’t stand seeing people glued to their phones whilst out with others. But I do want to use it even less, and maybe restrict it so that after or before certain times it goes away.
Myself and Ryan have both been saving since forever for a house and this is something I want to continue but get better at during this year. I have already started this by documenting spendings in my notebook. By this I mean I have wrote down (and separated into categories) my spendings, which will help me keep on top of my money. I want to also put aside or open a new account dedicated just for my savings.
Last year I really enjoyed cleaning. This is something I never thought I would ever say. Therefore, I definitely want this to continue into 2020. It is something that has also been making it’s way into my diary and lists! Also I want to have one deep clean a month (cleaning everything). But also every three months a deep clean of everything I own, which I will go through on the basis of “if I haven’t used it or worn it within the last 3 months then should it go”. You know what they say “tidy room tidy mind”, and this goes together with my less buying mentality too.
