July Favourites✨…

I haven’t done one of these in a while and to be honest I haven’t been interested in writing these types of posts. However, this month I feel there are some things that I would love to share with you guys. I probably won’t be doing these every month, but maybe just every now.

Ok so I have separated them into categories and added in a “favourite place of the month” because I thought that would be quite cool especially if I am visiting new places. But also “something new” I have added to highlight something I have tried new that month. Let’s get into it…

Make-up

I am going to be honest and say that I don’t actually wear a lot of make-up anymore. I think I have worn foundation twice this whole year so far haha. If I do wear make-up it is usually just a tad of concealer and mascara, and then sometimes on the weekends I will wear eyeliner (I might write another post on how leaving my foundation behind has grown my confidence). However, this month I finally tried Benefit’s mascara and honestly I love it so much. I bought another one in America as it was on offer, and I just can’t recommend this enough. I have bought products from Benefit before and I just love them.

Jewellery

If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen I posted on my story about some cool rings I got. I don’t know why but I was really drawn to black and dark grey rings in the shop ‘Lovisa’ (I love this shop). Normally I am a typical silver ring kinda gal, but I just had to buy these black rings. I got a snack, a star and moon crescent, a skull and a stone one. I just love them and can’t recommend this shop enough!

Books

I haven’t actually read a lot this month (mainly because I was on holiday for the first two weeks and I have been focused on my dissertation for my masters right now). I do buy books in advance (I know I am sad and nerdy haha) so that I am always prepared. However, I have started to read a book about philosophy (still nerdy) and I am loving it so far. It’s called “a little history of philosophy”.

Film

Again this one also requires time which I don’t always have but I do try my best to pencil in “film time” with my parents once a week and we try a lot of different films. Now myself and my dad love horror films and we have probably seen just about every horror you could think of. I don’t want to recommend a horror because I know it’s a genre that is not for everyone.

A film I did enjoy surprisingly was this film on Netflix called “After”. It is based off a book series which is quite sexual (yes I have read them years ago), so I was quite interested in how the film would be. Also, the books are actually based off a Harry Styles fanfiction but of course the author couldn’t use his name in the books and so the guy’s name is “Harden” (I didn’t actually know this until after I had read the books loool). I am a sucker for a love story or rom com film, and I guess many would see this film that way because it is haha. I do think watching the film it is a bit strange and the way Harden comes off is weird (weird or sexy I don’t really know haha). Also, the actor that plays Harden is British and the character is as well, but sometimes I hear people speak like that and I’m like is that how I talk? Is that how my voice is portrayed to Americans/others haha. Overall I do like the film and I am interested to see how the next one is going to be, even if I don’t necessarily agree with some actions in the film (if you watch you might know what I talking about)- like how Tessa treats Noah.

Place

I think it is kinda obvious what my favourite place this month has been. But if not then I’m still going to tell you… Of course, it has to be New York. It was just a dream come true. I won’t go into it because I have written posts on it, so just go check them out if you want to hear about it!

Something New

I wanted to add this because I want to inspire myself but also others to try something new each month. No matter how big or small it could be trying a new food/drink it could be learning a new skill, taking a new course, or even starting a new job. My something new for July has been going to a place I have never been too and that is America. I learnt so much in a week from different people, as well as some history.

Let me know what some of your favourites this month have been? Have you learnt anything new this month?

Thanks for reading, and if you have enjoyed comment, like or follow for more posts! Stay tuned for a “follow me around…” post coming on Thursday!💚

  1. I’ve never heard of the book ‘little history of philosophy’, was it any good? Also, I’ve read the Paige Toon book you bought and it’s really good, a nice easy summer read!! 🙂

    1. I am still reading it at the moment and I might review it at the end of August. But I am really enjoying it so far! It’s a more harder read than the other book you read but I like those types of books too! It’s more philosophy made simple 😊 also I’m glad you enjoyed the Paige Toon book! I have read a few of hers and I love them. I’m a sucker for some romance books haha. Thanks for your lovely comment ☺️ x
